Natural Beekeeping

Initial contact through the Beekeeping group, Sturminster Newton u3a

https://sturminster-newton.u3asite.uk/u3a_groups/natural-beekeeping

Monthly on the second Wednesday 10.00am – 12.00pm

Location:  Group Organiser’s home, Sturminster Newton.    Perhaps sometimes we’ll meet at a member’s apiary to see different hives and set-ups.

Weather permitting, we’ll always aim to meet outdoors so please wear suitable clothing.

The Natural Beekeeping Group’s ethos is guided by the natural behaviour of the honey bee, using non-intrusive methods and a bee-centric approach to benefit from a modest but delicious honey harvest.

Our colonies are healthy and resilient because we don’t deploy practices or substances that harm them, other insects or the environment.

Perhaps you have honey bees in a Warre, skep or log hive.  Perhaps your bees are in a National and you are transitioning from conventional practices to a more hands-off approach.

This is an informal group, meeting monthly to note what’s going on for the bees at that time and what we should, or should not, be doing to help them.   We’ll chat, share tips and ideas, watch some bees and learn from each other.  Beginners and interested observers welcome.
